like many gay youths, i have a passion for iced coffee. during my time at stanford, i would frequent different coffee shops, trying to find the ultimate balance of price, taste, and distance.
i took copious and sometimes unnecessary notes on the iced coffees i would buy at different cafes, the types of roasts they would use, whether i got free refills, and the price per ounce. philz has the best coffee in terms of taste, but it was so expensive. the campus bookstore had iced coffee for just $1.50, but it was almost undrinkable. how could i reconcile these myriad factors to find my ideal cup?
the solution was not to build an app. and yet, i built an app. using plot.ly’s dash and my ridiculously lengthy collection of iced coffee notes, i created an interactive iced coffee map. the app is a simple map of different places to get iced coffee around or near the stanford campus. you can filter by roast, by price per ounce, and see which spots near you fit your needs.
while i have no delusions that anybody will use this app but me, i find comfort in its milennial pink -ness and the knowledge that my years of coffee-chasing will be forever preserved in app form.
